cakewrecks, calexico

via pitchfork:

"It looked like [Noel] was in quite a lot of pain," according to Bowman. "It was pretty shit-cheap shot-- just from the back, and Noel didn't expect it coming. It certainly wiped him out."

Bowman described himself and his bandmates as being "literally dumbstruck" by the proceedings. "I mean, we had never seen anything like it...it put quite a damper on the mood."

music: calexico - carried to dust

also: feast of wire is really lovely.

ALSO: if you don't have it already, do yourself a really generous favor and acquire "in the reins" by calexico and sam beam. it's six songs originally written by sam beam and performed by him and calexico. it's like a southwestern, more latin feel of the shepherd's dog. kind of like if the fluid shepherd's dog got out of the water and basked in the new mexico sun.
