enjoying some og kush right now. it is actually great. the cannabis situation out here is so stellar. i went to another dispensary today and got a bunch of stuff. the people working behind the counter are all pretty high themselves, and they told me they move product at a rate of several pounds per hour. did you know that cannabis is the number one cash crop in america? michael pollan discusses, at length, how curious it is that a simple flower could cost as much as $500 per ounce or more. i've not seen prices that high in person yet, but definitely in the mid to upper 400s. shit is expensive. there are people dubbed "club runners" who get their medical marijuana license and use it to pick up drugs for other people who, in turn, pay them for their services. i did that for a couple friends already. in fact, they told me the only reason they haven't gotten cards yet is because they already have plenty of friends with mmj hookups.
"Use of marijuana and other drugs naturally fluctuates and if you look at long-term trends, current rates are smack in the middle of the range they've been in for decades," said Bruce Mirken of the Marijuana Policy Project, which advocates the decriminalization of marijuana. "There is simply no evidence that current policies ... have made any difference."
pollan also talks about the legality of a drug affecting the person using it. when i was in amsterdam, the singular best part of the high was always that i was allowed to be so. i could smoke in the street, in coffee shops, on balconies, in parks, anywhere there was ventilation, pretty much. most dispensaries don't like you smoking inside the shops around here, but you can still buy it and handle it and ask questions about it and share stories and such. everyone in the dispensaries is so nice and knowledgeable. you might walk into a shoe store and see a dude selling shoes because he's been at it so long he knows everything about them, but people dealing in weed all love the product intensely. they can tell you exactly how each strain will affect you and when or why you should consume one strain over another. i bought an ounce of a sativa dubbed "green monster" for $230. that's just under $29 per eighth. california is great.

music: brightblack morning light - motion to rejoin

a while back when i was dating the first dan, he and two of his friends, who were dating each other, came over to my place after a night out and we all wound up passing out in the family room. it was the end of a long night of drinks and drugs, it was dark, i was on the foof, and i decided it would be best to put on something that'd extend, but not necessarily affect or alter, the mood. i put on brightblack morning light's first eponymous album and it stayed on repeat until the next morning. motion to rejoin is more of the same.
